The Silver Surfer originally soared into the Marvel Universe in the March 1966 epic by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Norrin Radd was an inhabitant of Zedd-La, a world of idyllic narcissism. When Galactus, the devourer of worlds, threatened to consume Zenn-La, Radd offered himself in trade as the demigod's herald to spare his home world. Galactus gave Radd the Power Cosmic, encased him with a lustrous protective skin, and presented him with a galaxy-spanning surfboard that enabled him to traverse the heavens as the Silver Surfer.
