This one is an extremely rare Artist Proof of which Bowen Designs only offered a handful and SIGNED by Randy Bowen! Gambit first dealt a deadly hand to the X-Men in august of 1990. Born with fiery red eyes, young Remy LeBeau was a New Orleans street urchin who survived by thievery. He left home to prevent a war between rival assassin guilds, and during his nomadic travels learned to hone his mutant capacity to infuse inorganic objects with volatile biokinetic force. Explosive playing cards became his weapons of choice. Calling himself Gambit, his first encounter with the X-Men was as their enemy. The duplicitous Mr. Sinister tricked him into recruiting a league of powerful executioners that annihilated most of the outcast Morlocks in the Mutant Massacre. Breaking his alliance with Mr. Sinister, the ragin' Cajun ultimately allied with Storm, who ushered him into the X-Men. Today Gambit remains the X-Men's wild card member, and is romantically involved with fellow mutant rogue.
