Bowen Designs Cannonball Mini Bust
Released in 2011 and sculpted by Troy McDevitt. This Cannonball is a limited edition run of only 500 worldwide. This one is a very rare Marvel Sample of which Bowen Designs only offered a handful. Cannonball (Sam Guthrie) exploded onto the scene in 1982's The New Mutants (Marvel Graphic Novel #4). Born into a large Kentucky family, Sam lost his father at an impressionable age, which instilled in the youngster a sense of strict familial responsibility. Shouldering the obligation to provide for his mother and siblings, Sam was hired at the coal mine at which his father had worked. Sam was trapped along with a fellow coal miner and family friend named Mr. Lewis. As he attempted to help Mr. Lewis escape from the mine shaft, Sam's panic-induced adrenaline rush allowed him to tap into his latent mutant ability, and he was able to escape along with Mr. Lewis.
