Bowen Designs Wonder Man SIGNED Mini Bust
(Modern Version)
Signed by Randy Bowen and released in 2010. This Wonder Man had a limited edition run of only 800 worldwide. This one is numbered and also noted as a very rare Marvel Sample on the bottom of the base of only which a handful exist. First appearing in The Avengers (Vol. 1) #9 (October 1964) Simon Williams was facing a prison sentence due to embezzlement when he was enticed by Baron Zemo to undergo a series of "ionic ray" treatments in order to gain superhuman durability and strength. Dubbing him Wonder Man, Zemo informed Williams that unless he assisted The Masters of Evil against the Avengers, Zemo would withhold the antidote required to keep him alive due to side effects of the treatment. Fearing death, Wonder Man cooperated and feigning to be a hero, let The Avengers into an ambush. Williams conscience, however, led him to turn against Zemo, which resulted in The Avengers winning the day. Then, succumbing to the side effects of the ionic rays, Wonder Man "died".
